Woman snaps photo running through rainforest – later spots haunting detail in the bushes
There’ve been no end of ‘spooky’ images to have made their way to the internet over the years. From potential sightings of Big Foot, to supposed flying saucers in the sky, to ghosts appearing in the windows of old, decrepit homes, there’s no shortage of such pictures if you choose to look for them.
We acknowledge upfront that the majority of the photos in question are not as mysterious as they seem.
Often, the so-called paranormal elements or creepy aspects can be attributed to a simple camera blur or to someone adept at Photoshop with ample free time.
Nonetheless, there are some photos that seem to challenge logic in unique ways. For instance, runner Kay Borleis discovered an unsettling detail in a photo taken during her 100-mile run through the Hawaiian rainforest. Although one might question why she would undertake such a grueling physical challenge, that isn’t the focus here.
Reports indicate that Kay participated in the Hawaiian Ultra Running Team’s Trail 100-Mile Endurance Run in 2019, a race that challenges participants to complete five laps of a 20-mile loop through a lush rainforest.
Kay’s friend Cassie accompanied her as a pacer and took photographs during their run together.
One of the photos showed Kay navigating a muddy trail deep in the jungle. However, upon closer inspection, she noticed a detail in the image that can only be described as disturbing.

Kay took to Reddit, explaining: “My pacer took this photo.
“Notice the figure in the frame to the left of my head. We never saw anyone passing us and there were no statues along the trail.
“It is NOT photoshopped or made. This is legit.”
Close-up images of the photo seem to reveal a dark figure in tattered clothing, seemingly observing Kay as she runs. Despite this, Kay maintained that no one was around during her run.

She stated, “As the legend goes, the island is haunted by the ghosts of Hawaiian warriors known as Night Marchers.”
“They are described as ‘malevolent spirits, demons, and revenants that haunt the island. These are the frenzied, reanimated ghosts of ancient Hawaiian fighters, heroes, and warriors.”
“Further research revealed that ‘ancient Hawaiian beliefs claim that anyone who looks at or is seen in defiance by the marchers will meet a horrific and violent end. However, some say that if a person lies still, flat on the ground, showing proper respect, fear, and reverence to the Night Marchers, they will be forgiven and spared.”
“Luckily, we did not see the supposed Night Marcher.”
