His perspective shifted thanks to his actress wife. He shared how much he enjoyed spending time with her on the show they were both part of and attending award events together.
“When I began to watch her films, she would take on one role, then another, and each time she was nearly unrecognizable. To me, that’s what being an actor should be—putting on different hats and embodying various characters,” he said about Meryl Streep, expressing how she inspired him.
The actor in question is the renowned and attractive 65-year-old Kevin Bacon. Although he faced challenges earlier in life, he is now relishing his time with his wife.
In a recent interview with Kelly Clarkson, Bacon discussed how he used to dwell on the past.
In 1976, Bacon relocated from his hometown of Philadelphia to New York. He shared that he had visited New York with his sister in the past.
When Bacon moved to New York, he initially stayed with his sister. Once he found his own place, he had only $150 to last him a month.
“I had calculated that I needed $150 for the month, though I’m not sure how I came up with that number. I found an ad on the back of The Village Voice that read ‘Artists, actors, musicians, residents.’ It turned out to be more like a flophouse.”
He spent four years living in a rented office with a pianist because he couldn’t afford an apartment. As he achieved success as an actor and transformed his life, he met and married Kyra Sedgwick, his wife of 35 years.
They met in 1987 on the set of the movie “Lemon Sky.” Bacon was instantly smitten with Sedgwick, but she didn’t feel the same way initially.
After some persistence, they finally went on their first date and enjoyed a romantic dinner filled with laughter. Sedgwick later explained that she realized Bacon was the one for her.
“We’ve always been each other’s biggest supporters and fans. A sense of humor is essential. He’s incredibly funny,” Sedgwick said.
They have two children together who are now adults. Travis and Sosie are both in their 30s.
Fatherhood meant everything to Bacon. “When I go home, I strive to raise my children with honesty and integrity, teaching them to care for the world and each other,” he said.
