Shannen Doherty admits she’s preparing for death following stage 4 diagnosis

While contemplating your own death may bring on feelings of fear in the best of us, for beloved actress Shannen Doherty, facing the reality of her eventual passing has provided a sense of solace.

In 2015, a well-known Hollywood actress disclosed her breast cancer diagnosis to the public, followed by the distressing news the next year that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes.

Since then, the 52-year-old star has been open about her health journey, regularly sharing updates with her audience on the Let’s Be Clear podcast.

Over time, she has undergone a unilateral mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, and in 2017, she shared a brief period of remission from the disease. However, the determined actress faced another challenge in 2020 when she revealed that her cancer had returned at Stage 4 and had metastasized to her brain and bones.

Despite the challenging outlook, the Beverly Hills, 90210 star remains hopeful about enjoying more time with her family and friends. In January, she shared an update about a treatment she underwent, which successfully crossed the blood-brain barrier.

In a recent podcast episode released on Monday, April 1, Shannen discussed a decision she has made to lessen the strain on her family, particularly her mother, Rosa, when the inevitable happens.

“I am a fighter, and I have faith in science. I believe something will emerge to continue extending my life,” Shannen said during the podcast. “My main focus right now is my mom—I know it will be difficult for her if I pass away before she does.”

Recognizing the emotional impact of her decision, Shannen confessed, “It feels like letting go of something very special and important. But you understand that it’s the right choice, providing a sense of peace and calm.”

Along with donating her possessions, Shannen disclosed her plan to sell stored items to raise money for trips with her mother. “It’s just stuff. I don’t need it, and it doesn’t bring me much happiness, but what truly makes me happy is taking my mom to the places she’s always wanted to visit,” she said.

Throughout this poignant journey, Shannen finds solace in the chance to create enduring memories with her loved ones, especially her mother.

It’s amazing to see her resilience and determination shine through as she navigates this journey. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to her.
