A woman’s attempt to test her date’s generosity took an unexpected turn when her plan went awry. In an unconventional move, she decided to bring 23 family members to their blind date, hoping to gauge her date’s willingness to share. However, the outcome was far from what she had anticipated.
Her scheme, though bold, was poorly thought out. Her date, Mr. Lui, had intended to impress Miss Zhang by treating her and her relatives at one of his favorite restaurants. However, he was stunned when he was confronted not just with her presence but with that of her entire extended family, totaling 23 members. Understandably, Mr. Lui hesitated at the prospect of covering the bill for such a large group, leading to an awkward situation.
This uncomfortable encounter took place at a restaurant in Zhejiang Province, as reported by the Taizhou Evening News. Although the woman’s intentions were to assess Mr. Lui’s willingness to support her family, the execution of her plan left much to be desired, especially given that it was a blind date.
As the meal continued, it became clear that Mr. Lui was not willing to participate in the woman’s test of generosity. Rather than graciously covering the substantial bill, he made a swift exit, leaving the woman to handle the financial burden alone. The total bill amounted to a hefty 20,000 yuan (about $3,100), which she now had to pay.
Undeterred by the situation, the woman pursued further action. Upset by the outcome of the blind date, she filed a lawsuit against Mr. Lui. The court ultimately decided that Mr. Lui was only liable for 1,400 yuan of the bill.
In retrospect, the woman’s attempt to gauge her date’s generosity not only failed but also proved to be an expensive lesson. While her intentions might have been well-meaning, her approach to testing Mr. Lui’s character backfired dramatically. This experience underscores the importance of honesty and clear communication in relationships, rather than relying on elaborate tests.
