The Boss Dialed His Employee’s Home Phone Number

The manager faced an urgent problem with one of the primary computers, but he couldn’t get in touch with his trusted employee, who hadn’t come to work or notified anyone about being sick. Determined to resolve the issue, he called the employee’s home phone.

When he called, a child answered the phone in a hushed tone, surprising him. The boss asked if the employee was home, and the child confirmed softly that he was. Puzzled, the boss requested to speak with the employee, but the child whispered back, “no.”

Not one to easily back down, the boss asked if the child’s mother was at home. Again, the child quietly responded, “yes.” Hoping to leave a message with someone, the boss asked if anyone else was around. The child then whispered that a police officer was there.

Perplexed about the presence of a police officer at his employee’s home, the boss asked to speak with the officer. The child whispered that the policeman was occupied. Curious, the boss inquired what the officer was doing, and the child responded that he was speaking with the employee’s parents and a firefighter.

Growing increasingly anxious, the boss heard a loud sound in the background over the phone. He asked the child what it was, and the child whispered that it was a helicopter. Alarmed, the boss insisted on knowing what was going on, and the child whispered that a search team had just landed a helicopter nearby.

Now deeply concerned, the boss asked what the search team was looking for. The child responded with a muffled giggle and whispered, “Me.”

This touching story highlights the profound bond between a parent and child and the value of family. It serves as a reminder that life’s unexpected moments can bring happiness, even during times of apparent stress.
