When we put our lives online for the world to see, we leave ourselves vulnerable to judgment.
People have reacted negatively to this young pair since they enjoy sharing photos of themselves with one another online.
Their response to the criticism is both clever and a powerful reminder of the importance of staying true to one’s beliefs.
Matt and Brittany Montgomery’s story is a common one, but it stands out because of who they are.
They met, fell in love, and started building a life together.
While their story may seem familiar, it has a unique twist: the man is significantly larger than the woman.
Brittany has spent her life struggling to find a sense of belonging. She never felt secure with her overbearing parents, often leaving their conversations feeling drained.
This led her to develop insecurities about her body and a sense of inadequacy.
As a plus-size woman, she encountered two types of men: those who pressured her to lose weight and those who were only interested in her curves.
After a series of disappointing relationships, she considered giving up on love altogether.
But fate had other plans. In August 2020, she met Matt Montgomery online. Though their bodies were vastly different, their souls connected in a way she had never experienced before.
Brittany reflected, “I was a bit hesitant at first. I’ve been in relationships where guys have told me that they will dump me if I don’t start dieting or trying to lose weight. It did affect my self-confidence, and at one point, I did start working out and trying to change my size.”
Despite the challenges, they were confident in their love for each other. After Matt proposed on January 30, 2022, they immediately began planning their future together.
While they are completely comfortable with one another, they did address how others perceive their relationship.
When asked about the comments on his Instagram post, Matt said, “People comment on Instagram, suggesting that I’m not big enough or man enough for her.” He added, “I do notice people staring when we walk down the street…”
Their love for each other is unwavering, and no amount of criticism can shake their bond, even if others don’t understand it.
Matt’s past experiences with women of “normal” size didn’t go well.
The way Brittany makes him feel convinced Matt that she is his true soulmate. He loves her for who she is and is dedicated to making her happy.
Never shy about expressing his love for her, he recently said, “You are worthy, you deserve infinite love every single day and more. The way I look at you, the way I feel for you, and how you feel for me, that’s how I know we’re meant to be.”
He captions a photo of the two of them with some of the negative comments left on other couples’ photos, making a powerful statement about the depth of their relationship and proving that their love goes far beyond appearances. It’s a brilliant response to the critics!
The couple is actively working to normalize relationships between people of different sizes. She shared her wish that “mixed-weight relationships were more common and more the norm,” adding, “I really hope they become that.”
Just last month, the young couple announced they are expecting their second child, Lakelyn, in September 2023. We wish them all the best.
There are no strict rules when it comes to finding true love and pursuing what brings you happiness.
Ultimately, we should all strive to embrace and love one another, no matter the circumstances.
